Sporting spirit is winner at Howes Percival’s Olympics
Leicestershire’s professional business community turned out in their team colours to play all manner of events you won’t be seeing in Beijing. The sun shone outside Howes Percival’s Bede Island offices as more than 100 people enjoyed the law firm’s annual summer party.

Each team - made up of business people from banks, accountants and other organisations – took on the name and flag of an Olympic nation before doing battle. The events included bungee basketball, an inflatable obstacle course complete with Olympic torches and a jousting contest where competitors attempted to knock their opponent off a beam.

Once the medal table was totted up, the teams representing Australia (Yorkshire Bank) and The Netherlands (Tenon) took the top two slots and so faced each other in the final event; another go over the obstacle course in a team relay.

First back with the baton were the Yorkshire Bank’s Australians, who were handed their gold medals and champagne to warm applause. Medals also went to Tenon and the bronze position team from Spain, RBS.

Howes Percival partner Keith Gilbert said: “Many thanks to all the people who took part in the competition, and to those who came along to cheer them on. Our summer party is an opportunity for us to say thank you to the local professionals we work with throughout the year, and we hope everyone enjoyed the fun.”
